CREDENTIALS
Galaxy has been performing in South Florida since March 15, 1986 and specializes in playing for
private parties and for just about any kind of special
event.
Galaxy provides entertainment at some of the finest venues
in the surrounding area.
Our regular clients include
banquet halls,
country clubs,
hotels,
insurance companies, law firms,
restaurants,
yacht clubs,
as well as many other companies.
Galaxy has also performed in nightclubs and was the house band at the Upstairs Downtairs Lounge at the
Doral Beach Hotel for a period of 4 months.
EXPERIENCE
Galaxy’s musicians are very experienced:
Before starting the band Galaxy, both
Ron and
George
were affiliated with New World Productions,
which was one of the most successful music entertainment companies in South Florida back in the 1980’s.
David,
Howard and
Steve
also played and/or sang with The New World at one time.
CELEBRITIES
Galaxy has done shows and was the backup band for several legendary bands including
Little Anthony & The Imperials,
The Tokens and Motown group
The Marvelletes.
Ron played the piano to accompany
the famous actress/singer
Eartha Kitt,
who played Catwoman
in the Batman television series.
RECORDING PROJECTS
Our musicians and
vocalists are some of the best around.
Several of them have composed their own songs and have worked on numerous recording projects:
David, who has a recording
studio right in his house, has a CD with original songs that he wrote himself.
Our lead female vocalist
Katherine,
is an exceptional and versatile singer
whose multi-octave instrument performs pop, jazz, R&B, and Broadway with equal ease.
She is the artist/composer behind Miami’s Theme Song of Unity called “Mosaic”.
She has appeared on several TV shows and her recordings have received radio airplay throughout the United States and South America.
Our lead male vocalist
Ken managed
a group that is currently recording original songs for a CD.
TALENTED MUSICIANS
Galaxy’s musicians are very talented:
Many of them both play and sing.
Some can even play several instruments.
David plays drums as well as several other instruments.
He is also an excellent vocalist and can sing in both English and Spanish.
Xavier, who plays the saxophone, flute and clarinet in the Galaxy horn section, played in the
University of Miami Concert Jazz Band,
which is one of the best in the country.
He also toured Maynard Ferguson & His Big Bop Nouveau Band.
Stuart,
who plays the trumpet and flugelhorn, once toured with
K.C. & The Sunshine Band.
LOYALTY
Galaxy still has two of its original members:
Ron and
George
have been in the band for more than 24 years, which is certainly quite an accomplishment!
Marlene,
who sings regularly with Galaxy, has been affiliated with the band since the fall of 1986, which was only a few months after Galaxy was formed.
LEADERS
Ron,
one of the founders of the band, is the Master of Ceremonies at most of Galaxy’s performances.
He takes care of all formalities and discusses any details pertaining to your special event.
Ron handles most of the band’s
bookings and is usually the person to contact when inquiring about Galaxy.
George,
Galaxy’s other founder, has a background in both music and computers.
He is in charge of contracting entertainers and recruiting new talent.
George has arranged most of the songs in Galaxy’s large repertoire.
He has also developed some unique music software that is used by Galaxy.
MUSIC INDUSTRY
Many of Galaxy’s musicians
have an extensive background in the music industry.
Several of them, including
George,
Colgan,
Rick and
Dale were at one time affiliated with
Warner Bros. Publications, which was the world’s premier print music publisher.
During the 13 years that he was there,
George
produced sheet music and music books that were published in music stores all over the world.
As freelance music arranger for Warner Bros.,
George worked on many projects which included the music of
well-known artists like Madonna, Gloria Estefan, Alabama, Clint Black, The B-52's, Peter Cetera, and many others.
Colgan is currently a guitar music editor and arranger at
Warner Bros. Publications.
Dale
now has his own music engraving company and his clients include many of the leading music publishing companies around.
